From Stage to Page:
My Journey with “Mic Check 1,2,3”

For years, as most of you might be aware by now, the microphone has been my trusted companion; a tool that’s allowed me to connect with wonderful audiences across continents, and to be a part of so many important stories on stages everywhere. But recently, a new kind of storytelling adventure unfolded – the launch of my debut book, “Mic Check 1,2,3.”
Let me tell you, the journey from Emcee|Anchor to Author was both thrilling and challenging. Pouring my experiences and insights onto the page felt like a whole new performance, one that demanded vulnerability and a different kind of stage presence.
My eternal gratitude to my coach, Mr. Nitesh Gawde for pushing me to overcome my self-doubts and making me take the plunge into an entirely new dimension of connecting with people! I have always been an Anchor but the title of an Author seemed to me like a title I was having a tough time justifying. It only became easy to narrate my thoughts after I was assured that I will always be a storyteller first and this book is now here finally!
But the process was incredibly rewarding. As I delved into the world of writing, I relived incredible moments from my career, the triumphs and lessons learned along the way. Each chapter felt like a chance to share the power of the stage and the magic that unfolds when you embrace your voice, and the incredible people that you meet along the way.
Finally, the big day arrived on 21st April 2024! The launch of “Mic Check 1,2,3” was a whirlwind of emotions. Seeing the book come to life, held in the hands of excited readers, was a surreal experience. The launch event itself was a vibrant celebration filled insightful conversations, supportive colleagues, and an enthusiastic audience. The energy in the room was truly electric! Title Waves Book Store, in Bandra, Mumbai was the perfect venue for the launch.
With old school charm and an extremely hospitable and helpful team, especially Ms. Sumedha Mahajan, athlete, fellow author and owner of Brakefree Café at the book store. She curated the most delightful menu and ensured no one went hungry or thirsty at the event!
I was extremely nervous about getting an anchor on board to host my event, having always been on the opposite end of the table till now. A huge thank you to Emcee Chaitanya Rathi, my colleague and my friend, who despite a gruelling travel schedule between Singapore and Pune and Mumbai, through his inimitable stage presence, immediately put me at ease and made the launch seamless and spectacular. A special thank you to some of the contributors to my book, and guests of honour at the launch event, for coming and being part of this monumental milestone in my professional journey.
But the biggest surprise was yet to come. The moment “Mic Check 1,2,3” hit Amazon, the response was overwhelming. To learn that the book became a bestseller on day one was an absolute dream come true!
My heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone who supported me on this journey – my family, friends, mentors, and of course, all of you amazing readers. Your belief in the power of stories and your willingness to embrace mine, is what makes this achievement so incredibly special.
This is just the beginning! I’m excited to see where “Mic Check 1,2,3” takes us next. Stay tuned for upcoming events and discussions about the book. Remember, everyone has a story to tell. Don’t be afraid to grab your own mic and share it with the world!
